About us

About the MSF Sweden Innovation Unit

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency assistance to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, exclusion from healthcare and disasters. Our support is extended solely based on need, without considering race, religion, gender or political affiliation.

In 2012, MSF Sweden launched a project focused on driving and supporting innovative initiatives across Médecins Sans Frontières. In 2015, the project was expanded into the MSF Sweden Innovation Unit (SIU).

MSF SIU works to promote a culture of innovation across MSF to save lives and alleviate suffering. We are convinced that innovation is a “team sport” and strive to work closely with colleagues at a project level, patients, their communities and other relevant stakeholders in every step of the innovation process – from problem identification to designing and implementing solutions.

Simply put, our team works a bit like an MSF internal service delivery entity. The type and level of support we provide depend on the nature of the project. We know that innovative initiatives can originate from anywhere and come in all shapes and sizes and have adapted our ways of working to this reality.

More information about our approach to innovation and the thematic areas we focus on can be found under Our work.
